Hello. First of all, sorry for writing in English, but my Spanish sucks. I can read, but can't write. The thing is I am going to Buenos Aires next week, and would like to know a few good places to visit, to drink, etc. I am staying in a hostel in av. Mayo, so if you recommend a place far from there, please tell me how to get there too.
I'm staying for 10 days, so I imagine I won't be able to go to other cities because of the time it would take to get there and to come back, so I'll probably spend most of the time in Buenos Aires itself. I plan on going to Montevideu (Uruguay), which is just across a river from Buenos Aires, so I'm told. I am also looking for places to eat, drink and visit there, if you guys have any sugestions.
Thanks a lot for any help.

Hey, thanks, I'll try to go to those places. Are there Casinos in Buenos Aires?
I am trying also to find out how much a beer usually costs, cause I heard some places might charge a little more from tourists. How much the average beer would cost? Like 5 pesos a bottle is fine?
On a side note, what kind of places are good to visit during the day?
How is the weather recently? I know I could just check the sites that inform that, but I thought that the locals could provide more accurate info.
Thanks for the answer francisco42k. :sdrink

      Casino to play poker:

      Casino Puerto Madero:
Adress: Elvira Rawson de Dellepiane s/n Dársena Sur Puerto de Buenos Aires (but just tell "Al casino de Puerto Madero" or "Al casino flotante de madero" to the taxi driver). Only NLH tables $5/10 - $10/$20 - $25/$50 (pesos obv)

In bars/pubs/discos beers and drinks are not cheap at all. $15 pesos for a 500cc bottle is common everywhere. Try to taste the "Otro Mundo" beer, in my opinion the best argentinian beer.

Places to visit on the day?.... mmm, that kinda depends on what you like. If you like architecture and historical monuments/bulidings you can go first to "Plaza the Mayo (it's on Avenida de Mayo, so it's near your hostel), there u can see the Cabildo, The Pink House (true story lol), etc.

After that you (if it's Sunday it's a big score) you can go to Defensa Street that crosses the Plaza the Mayo and go to San Telmo to have a nice beer, or, to La Boca, to know "Caminito". (search in google to get an idea).

If you like more modern architecture u can go the "Darsenas de Puerto Madero", a lot of restaurants, and fancy buildings but, NOT CHEAP, it's one of the most expensives places in BA.

MMM, and, if someday you want to do some sport like running (it's very nice to know places running) you need to go to the "Reserva Ecológica" in the "Costanera".

I reccomend you that, every place that u can go near by on subway use it!, it's very cheap and safe. Buses are ok and cheap too.

Here u have a map of Buenos Aires:

1 litre of beer won't cost more than 3,5 £. I recommend to visit other places in Argentina. Buenos Aires is beatiful and all, but u will be missing greater cities and places like Mendoza, Santa Cruz, Salta, etc. And yes, u will find a lot of casinos in Argentina, and lot of fishes in them :P

Thank you both for the useful information you provided. I am looking forward to be in this beautiful city and I am sure I'll enjoy it! I probably won't have the time to visit others cities, but in the future I'll come back with more time (and money, hopefully).
In case anyone else has some other recommendation, be sure to post here.
